As I click my typer,
And as I lay on my back,
I notice that I am not hyper,
And I worry on this fact.

Did I not get excited?
Was I not filled with joy?
Back when I used words like "Fighted"
Back when I was a very young boy.

I ponder for a second,
I realize something grim,
"You know," I begin to reckon,
"I'm beginning to act like him!"

I think back to my brother,
And how he too forgot,
The joy father and mother,
convinced us that Christmas brought.

"I don't want to lose it,
I don't want to forget!
I didn't even choose it",
Or so I would bet.

Truly I did still get excited,
Just at a different time,
This time it happened,
When I heard a familiar chime.

"What is that song?" I pondered,
"What is it that they sing?"
Into the den I wondered,
And a joyous sight it did bring.

'Twas the Grinch that brought such immersion!
But not with Drew Carrie.
Unlike that horrid version,
This one made me merry.

So I tell you girls and boys,
To rethink what you like.
When you wished for those toys,
Or even that red new bike.

It's really about tradition,
To this I think you'll agree.
Unlike the intermission,
This one continues to be.

You're never too old for the holidays,
I believe this truth be told,
So you can enjoy the season,
Even when you get old.

I don't want the toys anymore,
I just want the cheer.
So enjoy your adult Christmas,
Go grab yourself a beer.
